My banister has a wide base and narrower top. The area it would have fit was slightly above where it needed to be. We actually were able to install the gate on the bannister with out using the kit even though the instuctions that come with the gate say that if you have a bannister you need the kit. I would reccomend an attempt to install the gate without the extra attachments before ordering them. 13 of 16 people found the following review helpful  Disappointed, By This review is from: Kiddyguard Bannister Kit (Baby Product) I have a rod iron bannister. I thought this would help me install a baby gate.It is intended for round or diamond shaped bannisters. Of course, my is square. I had a horrible time trying to return it to a Babies R Us store. They did not want to return it because they did not sell this item in the store. We have wooden bannisters. They have larger squares on the bottom and are small and rounded at the top. The kit worked very well, although, I did need some help installing the kit on the side that holds the gate.I am, however, disappointed that I had to order not one, but two of these kits given the price of the gate itself. There is a picture of the gate attached to a bannister on the box and that's why I bought it in the first place. That issue aside, my only concern now is that my VERY busy toddler might break the bannisters by pulling down on the gate (which wouldn't seem to be as much of an issue with a metal gate). |

Product Description
The KiddyGuard Safety Gate Banister Installation Kit allows you to install the KiddyGuard Gate to an existing banister. Kit works to fit gate to square formed banisters ut to 1.5" wide and round banisters up to 2" in diameter. Please Note: One kit provides fittings for one side of the gate. When attaching both sides to a banister, 2 kits will be needed.
