First of all, this product does exactly what it's supposed to do-- protects your child from falling through the bannisters. Unfortunately, it's fairly flimsy, it's loud when your child decides to do a drum solo on it, it's very expensive considering how cheaply made the product is and lastly, you can do much better by going to your local hardware store, pay a few more dollars and purchase some plexiglas, drill a few holes and mount it the same way with zip ties. I also wouldn't feel safe if a I had a larger child. I don't think it could handle too much weight as evident when some of the holes rip when you apply too much pressure when pulling the zip ties. I still gave it two stars because it does do what it's designed for and I would have gave it three stars if it was half the price I paid for it because it's not worth the price listed. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful  Peace of mind........, This review is from: Cardinal Gates Banister Shield for Pets, 15' Roll Clear (Misc.) Great idea. After shopping all the do it yourself stores where the only option is thick and hard to install plexy glass decided to try this. It's very easy to install, serves it's purpose and something I wish I'd done long before my son started walking. It truly gives me peace of mind. We have non-code banister rails in our older home. I have got this product to shield the stairs area for my infant daughter and it is working well. It is transparent and considering that I am not that handy, I was able to install it with some measuring and cutting. The shield is transparent, but it looks opaque since it's got protective layer on it, which simply peels off. I liked that since I could mark in the film side to make holes & cut and after I was done, I just simply peeled it off. It definitely thinner that plexiglass, but also much cheaper than plexiglass. With zip tie support, it will do the job.2 Big complains about this product is, First, it is not 36" like the product description. It is 33". It did leave about 3" room above and my daughter has been pulling that or she could drop things over when she gets taller. Very not happy with that at all. Second, the hole puncher that came with the kit is the hole puncher for papers; it will do the job, but very dull. I ended up using drill bit on mini-motor driver... Read more |
