This was the third gate that I bought for the top of my stairs and it is the first gate that I am completely happy with (and not taking down immediately!). There are no plastic parts. Installation was fast and easy; hanging and putting the gate together took me 30 minutes with an 8 month old "helping." I did upgrade the screws. The gate is sturdy, and has a stop swing that will not allow the gate to open over the stairs. The latch is good enough that I had to show my husband how to do it when he first tried opening it. There are two sides to the latch, which makes it harder for kids to figure out. Once you get the trick, it's very easy to open with one hand. Finally a top of the stairs gate that is actually safe enough. I am happy! |
