Slips on banister, not secure, January 9, 2011

We had this because it came with a gate we purchased. The bands that hold the gate to the banister are not secure, they were constantly slipping even though we had them as tight as they go. We ended up buying another Kidco Stair Mounting kit as we already had one of those upstairs (we have 3 stair gates in our house) and knew it was much more secure. After mounting 3 gates, all of which are banister mounts, I should own stock in Kidco, but their banister mounts are the best. Do not waste money on this one. That being said, the Evenflo gate itself is fine, we kept it, but buy the gate separately and then get the Kidco mounting kit, this one is a waste.

We bought this to install the Evenflo Top of Stairs Gate. We installed at the bottom of the stairs were there are two banisters. One kit only does one banister, so we had to purchase two.

With the kit, you can mount around two squares or one round section of the banister, depending on what shape banister you have.

Installation was simple. I installed both kits by myself in probably 10-15 minutes. The gate mounts to the kit just as it would a wall or any other surface. You do have to use the screws provided in the kit, rather than the screws provided with the gate; otherwise the screws would go through the gate kit.

If we install another gate at the top of the stairs, I will be purchasing this kit again.

I don't think you could find a better gate for the price. Easy to install and easy to remove temporarily if you are having company. Great for stairs because of no annoying bar on the bottom. Bought the banister adapters and they are very sturdy. Have recommended this gate to numerous people and would absolutely buy again.
